Where do we fit?
SBD was founded in 1995 by its three directors, all of whom have extensive experience of working in vehicle manufacturers’ design centres. During this time they found a common theme that the design teams were often unable to get clear feedback from the customer on their real needs or to get a good understanding of what technology their next model would require to be competitive.
SBD was set up with the aim of helping vehicle manufacturers and their suppliers bridge the gap between system design and actual market needs. SBD has extensive knowledge and insight in vehicle security, low speed crash and telematics, which enables us to help our clients understand the market and technical requirements and to plan cost effective systems for the future that customers value and are more willing to pay for.
Our initial focus was on Western Europe but as the company has grown we have developed global interests, working in Japan, North America, Brazil, Russia, India and China as well as Malaysia and South Korea.

Our work in Telematics & ITS focuses on building a more efficient future, by helping our clients develop systems that contribute to safer journeys and less congestion. These areas are of increasing importance, as the number of vehicles on the road continues to grow, leading to greater risk of accidents and more pressure on natural resources and environment.
We also work to raise standards in vehicle security in order to reduce car crime, make societies safer, increase customer satisfaction and improve cost of ownership. Through our experience, we help our customers understand and take positive action against car crime in world markets.
