Developing products to meet European market demands and to plan next generation cars

Case study - An Asian-based client wanted to develop the conceptual structure for a new ‘B’ segment model to compete in Europe. As a new venture, the client lacked experience in European vehicle development and needed to set the direction for their designers. With constraints in the production facility and strict budget limitations SBD provided a number of integrated structural solutions that would perform well in low speed impact. All models were developed on CAE (using LS DYNA) to verify structural integrity and set the basis for the body design. These design layouts were used as a basis for detailed design.

Outcome - A full proposal for front and rear structural packaging was implemented that met European requirements, competed against market rivals and brought cost of ownership in line with brand values.
