Although the USA has not adopted the recent changes to Canadian legislation to mandate fitment of electronic immobilisers, at least one North American website feels that better security is necessary to prevent vehicle theft.
Whilst all of the below recommendations by HomeSecurity.net for the “ultimate theft proof car” may not be required on all types of vehicle, SBD’s research into global theft trends shows that the benefits of the Passive Immobiliser will reduce opportunist theft on all makes and models.
Further data from SBD proves that countries which have introduced legislation for immobilisers have reduced theft figures by up to 60%. The best reductions have come from countries that have also included performance testing or requirements to make sure that immobilisers present a verified deterrent.
