According to a recent announcement by UK commercial vehicle insurer, Swinton, security is top priority for van drivers’ when choosing a new vehicle.
They conducted an online survey of 1,200 Swinton Commercial customers and revealed that 36% thought van security was the most important factor when choosing a new vehicle.
Phil Moss, Commercial Vehicle Manager at Swinton said, "Installing security features can have a positive effect on van insurance premiums. By shopping around commercial vehicle drivers can get one of the most secure vans on the market with a decent premium to match."
This announcement is in line with SBD’s research, “LCV Security: Understanding the European market” released in 2009 that uncovered the differences in security fitment across various Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) brands in Europe and highlighted that many of the leading vehicle manufacturers already use security and cost of insurance to communicate brand values and differentiate from competitors.
The report is a comprehensive study of security, theft trends and insurance requirements in the top six European sales markets for LCVs providing an invaluable reference source for vehicle manufacturers and suppliers of LCV products.
