Multiple smartphone app and integration solutions were on show at the Paris Motor Show from the BMW group. Four different solutions for integrating the mobile phone with the vehicle were shown by BMW including iPod-out, remote control app, docking station and MINI Connected proxy app solution.
Connected navigation systems providing live information services were shown by TomTom in Renault and Mazda models. Toyota launched a new navigation system from Aisin AW that will provide a connection to the Internet for POI searches in the future. Ford announced a European version of its Sync infotainment and connectivity system in the Focus.
Smart announced a smart car hire Car2Go version of its Fortwo model that uses telematics to provide access through chipcards and PIN. Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) continued their migration from high-end models to the mass market. The Citroen C4, Ford Focus and VW Passat were presented with arrays of ADAS including driver fatigue monitoring in the Ford and VW.
EuroNCAP announced the first results of its ADAS assessment programme with awards for Audi Side Assist, BMW Assist Advanced eCall, Honda Collision Mitigation Braking, Mercedes-Benz Pre-Safe, Opel Eye, Peugeot Connect SOS, Citroen Localised Emergency Call, VW Lane Assist and Volvo City Safety.
