New research - Kick-starting the mass market for ADAS ~A review of the key market drivers - released by SBD identifies converging factors leading to an increase in the uptake of active safety systems by the mass market.

According to SBD’s new report on the market drivers for ADAS, activities such as Euro NCAP planning to integrate ADAS testing in their new car safety rating reports from 2013 and the insurance industry taking an active role in testing systems to assess their effects on crashes and repairs indicate a trend towards greater consumer awareness and uptake.

Although there is strong momentum behind the availability and uptake of ADAS in the mass market, SBD also identifies and makes recommendations on a number of issues that have the potential to act as barriers to active safety systems. These issues include understanding legislation, reducing system price, cooperating with insurance, charitable and government initiatives as well as technological development.
